I am delighted to say I have been accepted as a member of EDGE TEXTILE ARTISTS SCOTLAND.
EDGE is the leading textile art group in Scotland , and it's aim is to 'promote excellence in all aspects of contemporary textile art'.
There are some fantastic artists in this group, whose work I really admire, so I was very pleased in January to have been selected for the Portfollio Submission part of their application process. On the alloted wet and windy day in February we drove up the three hours across country to the ancient town of Linlithgow with piles of sketchbooks, samples, and pieces of artwork. January and February are months when I spend most of my time working in my studio, and don't see many people, so any excuse for a wee trip elsewhere is welcomed.
The committee meet in a beautiful bay windowed room in an old building beside the magnificent Palace of Linlithgow. There is no actual interview, which surprised me, but applicants are asked to lay out their work before leaving, to allow the committee to look and discuss. While I waited, we enjoyed a wander by the palace loch to admire the swans. One day I will get to see Linlithgow in the sunshine! Successful applicants are informed by email, and a couple of days later I was delighted to hear I had been accepted.
I'm really looking forward to connecting, learning, and developing with this exciting group.
