'Smirr' is inspired by the soft drizzle that often blurs my vision as I go walking in the Galloway hills near my home. It reminds me of peering through the hood of my cagoule as a child on summer holiday hikes with the rain running down my eyelashes, while my mum insisted  'Ocht, its only a smirr!'.

There is a sweet moment when the rain has not yet stopped and the sun suddenly breaks through, intensifying the colours of the mountains and sharpening the senses.
