PORT HOLES

A series of pieces I began making during the pandemic in response to lockdown. So many of us where unable to travel or even leave our homes and yearned for new landscapes, or to return to beloved places.

Each work is within a 5” circle reminiscent of a porthole on a boat, an airplane window, or perhaps a bird's eye view. Some pieces were of places I walked each day on my ‘permitted exercise’, in other I used holiday photos of the countryside I loved to visit as inspiration. Each piece is silk painted and free motion embroidered.
