NOTRE DAME AU PRINTEMPS LE CHAPEAU

I created this piece in response to the theme ‘Paris’.  I remember visiting Notre Dame one spring and being enchanted by the late afternoon sun warming the beautiful stonework of the Rose Window.

The cherry blossom cast its pink glow and the sky was a glorious blue.  I made the shape of the hat in homage to Christian Dior, one of the great Parisian couturiers, and his New Look of 1947.

Repurposed Duchess silk satin and silk dupion dyed and hand embroidered.
